 patients and present the case to the Doctor. Anyway, together in my group are Jon, Najay, Z8y and Syuk. Owh ya, I decided to play dress-up for the placement too =p

Saturday, the Week after...

LGS Session: Fecal Occult Blood Test @ mencari darah dlm tahi (lol! im serious ah)

Its basically self-explainatory from the translation. Its one of the test u do when u want to screen someone if they have cancer of the colon / rectum. It detects blood in the fecal sample. Basically, blood contains heme-group which reacts with a reagent. So, before the lab session, 4 of us were assigned to get fecal sample. I was the first and only one EAGER and VOLUNTEER to take the sample simply because i thought it would be interesting to get samples from one my family members who has known history colorectal cancer. Unfortunately, because of the time constraint, i didn't manage to get it from the patient, so that exact morning before goin to UBD, ahahhaah..yup, i poop some samples. Heck, it wuld be interesting to get positive results coz i know i was having my menses.

My Weekend

It's Sunday~~

I've been meaning to post and update this blog everyday, but it seems almost impossible! If im not busy doin my work, ill be busy playing and going out..lol! I have no idea how people do this. Owh well, at least im posting something right now.

Thursday

Had a lecture in the morning, went out lunch with the girls at Shikai and then PBL in the afternoon..nothing interesting really. My babe 8ah stayed over my place again that nyt, so it was interesting because for the first time im bringing her to hangout with my brother, Shaz and Martha @ S&S. Hmm..it was "interesting" alright..heee. We went to watch SpiderWick before that-i would rate it 7/10. I think the rest of the group had more fun watching me screaming and shrieking, jumping out of my seat than watching the movie. Haha! 

Friday

Woke up super-LATE coz went home around 2am from S&S. Went to RIPAS to clerk some patients in the afternoon with 8ah (I know, im super-rajin..), actually i only manage to clerk one, haha. Anywho, when we were otw to the car park passing the Therapeutic Garden, we decided to "assess" how therapeutic the garden is..hahaa. Of course, since we're already in a garden, might as well 

take some pix ryt? haha..soo vain..

After RIPAS, i decided to cut my hair shorter again and make it more noticeable. I found it annoying that people didn't seem to notice that ive cut my hair! So yea..ive cut it much shorter this time. See the pix above.

I'm soo disappointed with myself...sigh..i spend what is left on my wallet on a new cloth..ive been spending quite a lot this month..aiyo~ (knocking my head against the door...)

Saturday

My Saturday was Very Very Very INTERESTING...i would use the word Traumatised..but that would be exagerating..lol. Why?

1) My first time seeing dead bodies!!!

For my RIPAS Placement, we were brought to the morgue. Yeap. 15th March 08 will be such a significant day for me because it was my first time seeing a dead body. Not just that, dead person autopsied. Being cut. All organs removed, detached from the body. Cranial bones drilled open to remove the brain. Leaving a body with a big cavity and the head half open, brainless. It was...soo ganas, how they do it i mean. But it was interesting and COOL. I sound so heartless but it really was. I didnt found it soo smelly at all, unlike most of my batch. Anyway, it was such a learning experience for me. I did learn from it. Now i understand y they let medical students learn anatomy by cutting cadavers. It makes more sense than reading textbooks! SERiously! That day, ive seen 2 dead bodies. What makes learning fun was that while the pathologist doctor was cutting the organs into pieces to find out the actual cause of death, he was continuously assessing us, giving us all these questions which we all know the answers but unfortunately can't remember. So shameful..Basically, it was such an experience that i wont forget.

2) Conference / Medical Lecture on Spot the Diagnosis

Two doctors, Registrars from Singapore Hospital came to UBD to give us a cool lectures/talk on spotting the diagnosis based on the signs presented by the patient. So the doctors presented a lot of picturess with all the clinical signs and give the audience chance to come up with the diagnosis. Of course, the doctors also included the symptoms that the patient complain of when they  came to A & E. The most "traumatic" was seeing all the pictures of patients with very severe injuries / trauma. It was interesting really because the doctors didn't just show us pix but they also show us videos so they can show us abnormal breathing sounds, body movements and other things. I think it is one of the best approach on teaching medical students. I mean our Patient Care session should be like this man, then it wuld be more fun to learn..

Overall, i would rate my Saturday to be the most traumatised..Mentally, Visually but not physically la.ehee..(im so lame..i know)

Saturday Night

It was really an exhausting day for me. I had to shower at my aunt's in Rimba coz apparently water supply at my place has been closed tmporarily. Its been 2 days. Anyway, like always, if i stop over at my aunt's place, it would take me forever to leave dhouse. My aunty and her kids are like a magnet to me...hehe. But im glad i went there coz i missed my lil bratz soo much. It was arnd 10 when i finally reached home. I was soo tired that all i wanna do is just get myself tuck into my bed and get some rest. But hey, because of the power of wifi is so strong and addictive, i became fully awake. LOL! Then, the devilish Shaz offered to pick me up from home just so i go and hang out with them. It was very tempting offer and plus, she's very persuasive i must say..hahaaa..anyway, so, i did went out. Went to S&S as usual then afterwards, cruising arnd Gdg to kacau all the "shemales" and eventually, we went to Shaz's place. That was pretty much it. Owh ya, there's also a guy. My ex-primary schoolmate who has been soo persistent on meeting me. So yea, i finally invited him to hangout with us at S&S. When it was time for us to leave, he asked me out on a movie date...

Hmmm....Honestly, i am not really interested to be in a serious relationship at the moment. I admit that i do miss dating around, but that's it. I'm happy being single, enjoying my single fun life and I'm already settling back into my old self, the times when i was single. The difference between me now and me back than are knowledge about men, the real world nowadays and experiences in love. Anyway, dun wanna get into this topic just yet. I'm saving it for next time.Haha.

Sunday

Woke up late. Went out with mummy and brothers. Lunch at C.A.M, then grocery shopping and then finally before going back home, DVD hunting. That's my ideal sunday - Spending time with my family and Lots and Lots of RESTing.

Ayt...that's it i guess. Damn, it took me hours to post this thing. Something wrong with the image uploader..took them hours to upload my pix..sigh..anyway..gtg now to SDL.

Post-Assessment

Morning~

Had my formative yesterday afternoon. Hmm..yea, it was alright. I actually skipped RIPAS placement that morning, spposedly to study. But in the end, i only ended up reading only one case on Leukaemia. I manage to "glance" through my Parasitic Infection notes, but yea, that was basically it. But, guess what came out in the Mini Case...LEUKAEMIA! LOL! Owh well, i guess i'm lucky this time, but seriously, i NEED to study man..*phew~* glad that was all over.

Post-Assessment

Went out to Swensen's to celebrate Nellie's Bday for the 2nd time, my wallet is a actually kinda dry at the moment but since she said she's gonna treat us ice-cream, yea, what the heck. I was actually starving, didn't eat anything for breakfast and lunch other than the peanut-choc sandwiches my mum made for me, and to be honest, i was REALLY HUNGRY and DYING to other a meal, but yea...what to do, just tahan la. Then this crazy jon suggested goin to Sushi at Escapade after Swensen's to me..He kinda offered to share the meal, it was very tempting..finally, guess wat i did? I went to withdraw some money (i SERIOUSLY SHOULD STOP THIS) and ended up having sushi with the guy. It was worth it, had amazing dinner. Edah was there too.

Anyway..after that, i went to hangout w my big bro and his gf, Syaz at Sugar and Spice. I was supposed to study for PBL tutorial the next day, but i feel the need to celebrate and go out after the test (even tho i didnt really work hard for it..ehee). At least i smpat shisha jap..lol.

Owh well, i guess the only highlight of the day was the test and also the dinner. That was it. nothing interesting actually. 

Shit, its 5 minutes to 7am. I'm gonna be stucked in traffic. Ayt, gtg.

Farah

Formative Assessment tomorrow....

As usual, if something major and important lyk this happens, wat i do best is procastinate..lol! Had my 1 week mid-semester break last week, wasted every single day going out, watching movies/cinemas, shopping, shisha-ing, lepak-ing n doin crazy stuffs instead of studying. Less than 24hr frm now is the assessment n wat did i manage to learn? NONE! Other than learning the lineage precursors of blood cells and haematopoesis..Somehow, i didnt seem to bother much bout this test, no scary feelings that i should be having just to motivate myself to study..nothing at all. Now, that thought is actually scary to me. But...not too scary enough to make me stop being such a lazy bum..lol!

Ive just checked my mail, the format of the test:

1 minicase, 1 SAQ (H.Science) and 2 SAQ (PPD) and 1 EMQ..its gonna be 2 hour 15 min...

Now..there are 6 cases to learn, wat are the chances that its just gonna be 2 cases? Another reasons for me to procastinate some more..(sigh)

Aiyo, need to motivate myself la..Hmm, ok lets think 5 reasons y i need to study:

1) I'm a medical student, a future doctor..so WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING?

2) I NEED TO PASS this test coz the partner medical school myt want to see how the students are performing academically. Now, if i dun do well, im not gonna look good to d Glasgow uni, am i? SO STUDY!

3) Use this as an opportunity to PROVE to the JERK how STUPID HE IS and show what he's missing! HAH!

4) I NEED to make my family proud and show the whole world that i CAN DO THIS!

5) I need to re-organise my life, go back to my usual self and life when EDUCATION is what MATTER most in my life.

NOW, I AM MOTIVATED! =D (honestly..)

Its mid sem break!!!!! yippee!!!!!Actually, im spposed to study for the formative assessment during this 1 week holiday, but hmm..yea.. im lazy to study..=p

The very 1st day of the holiday, which was on Sunday, i went to Miri with some friends to celebrate Nellie's Bday. Cool thing was that i was the only girl in the car, Najay's the driver and the other 2 guys were Ustaz and Dude. Wat's cool about it was i manage to infect the guys w my crazee sense of humour and personality..lol! We called ourself...The Ah-Long mafia group..lol! Anyway, had fun eventho the rest of the DFC girls weren't there. It's been a while since ive been to Miri, last tym i went there was with my "Ex" (somehow i find it cool to have an EX..-it sounds exciting..lol)
