Visiting Grandfather

Last Thursday, i went to visit my grandfather with my mum. Initially, i didn't even plan to go out because i wanna finish off my clerkings after 2 days of wasting time sleeping. Anyway, i was glad that i did lawat nini. Because...it was the most heartbreaking thing ever...For the first time ever, i witnessed nini crying. Owh poor thing... Everytime i recalled back those time when i saw him crying, i feel like crying too. I can still remember his faint pleading cry, crying of pain, crying of his fate, crying for his past, crying for desperation to get out of the misery. I just couldn't bear watching him cry. I tried, with my mum as well, to comfort him. I even offered to urut him. I urut his head, his neck and back...i could tell he was happy that someone was actually there to urut him, still caring for him. I guess he was sad if no one visited him, but the thing is ppl DO visit him, perhaps he was lonely, he need continuous presence of someone he's close to-family members basically. I mean it's great that there's at least a maid to help him there, but its different. When me and mum balik, we had to tapuk2  balik, coz takut my nini nangis lagi...Owh nini...i pray for u..i will. I do hope u will get better soon. I know he's going to be discharged soon, and i hope everything will turned out good. I know my nini can't walk anymore, he's bed-ridden now,  i do hope our family will be in this together, helping nini to go through his immobilise and restricted state now. Love u nini mmmwuah!

Loving grand-daughter,

What have i done to myself....

[purple small is mine & red one is jon's]

Last Saturday and Tuesday, we went to the
Bleeding Unit in RIPAS to brush up with our venepuncture skills to get our competency skill lists signed off. I paired up with my dear jon, offered him my vein to poke.

Sadly, he didn't get any blood last Sat, but he finally managed to get some on tuesday...using the same vein! lol! Gr8 job jon! I have to say i was super duper nervous coz i know tangan c jon ne slalu kjr2, gla! i can even still feel him shaking while holding the veneject.LOL! I did 2 venepuncture on him and it was successful pokes! hahahaha, even kept one of his blood tube with me...kahkahkah..(imagine dracula laugh)-L.A.M.E.

[ yang merah tu iatah tu...lol ]

Edah on the other hand, was a bit unlucky i have to say. She poked me twice last Saturday, same arm, different veins, but unfortunately didn't get any of my blood. But hey, at least she left me a souvenir-2 purple bruise hahaha...Lawa! U can't see clearly from the pix but ada la sikit2. Heeee...

[There are 2 bruises, one obvious one is in the centre and the other one is the most upper  side]

Saturday Night : Dinner with Dr.Zul

Last Lecture

Last Monday...We had our last expert forum and lecture. And it was our last time having lecture at Chancellor Hall. Me and few of the girls were feeling sad about it, others didn't seem to care. Anyway..check out the video.

A few interesting things have been going on lately. When i say interesting, hope u know that it doesn't necessarily means interesting in a good way, it can be in a bad way as well.

Anywho...it has been a busy week for me. Pressured to do PPD Portfolios, not 1 but 4! As usual, i delayed doing them, procrastinating all the way until the last minute. Had to sacrifice my sleep on friday night and sat morning doing the portfolios. In the end, i manage to fully complete one, the rest are 3/4 done. But i'm glad that even though i didn't really finish them, i manage to see my reviewer and get some tips on what to do n wat not. And all this time i was worried she would scold me or something...Phew!

Last Tues, we went to play netball again. This time, i joined the rest. Unfortunately, when i did joined, 2 minutes after the game started, i suddenly twisted and sprained my left ankle. Owh god, the pain was deliciously excruciating. I was jumping to catch a ball but somehow, i landed funny and cheng cheng cheng!!! I was injured. Everyone was concern, i was touched that they all tried to help bring me to the bench. While i was on the bench, i didn't really thing it was serious, it wasn't as painful as the beginning. But eventually, after a while, owh dear...the pain was starting to get to me. I was already disappointed that i didn't get to play all the way to finish the game, so i motivated myself to get better. Tried to walk couple of steps, maneuver my ankle in different possible positions and massaging it with d hope that it would get better so i can play again. And i did play again...with slight pain, who cares? i wanna play. But afterwards in the evening, my dear god, my ankle was getting swollen and pain was more obvious. Thanks to my dad who came to rescue my ankle-he helped bandaged them for me. It was slightly better than before but that didn't do much for the next day. Owh my dear god, it was not-so-deliciously excruciatingly painful. I can't even support my body on my left leg anymore. And to make it worst, it was clinic day and i can't afford to miss clinic that day coz its newborn examination day for me...at the labour ward! i wouldn't miss it for the world! no way! so, i asked my dad to wrap my ankle again (thanks dad! love ya) and what to do, i have to limp la all the way. Thank god my bandaged foot can fit my flats! (thanks blue shoes! love ya). It was tiring! But it was worth it because i get to examine a baby boy who was just being delivered!!! How cool was that! I was actually the first to examine him :D
After that day, my ankle was healing and getting alright. But i do feel slight pain sometime if i flexed my ankle to the side, in medical terms - when i abduct my ankle. Owh well, i like and enjoy the pain anyway :D

Thursday night, the whole family plus shaz, martha and zaim went to watch the new Malay movie "Congkak". God, it was horrifying. I don't wanna talk about it at this moment. But let's just leave it as one of the greatest horrifying malay movie.

Saturday, went to RIPAS for placement at the neonatal & pediatric unit again. Got the chance to examine a newborn again. In the afternoon, we went to the bleeding unit to complete our venepuncture skills. We decided to do it each other. I offered mine to Jon and Edah. They all sadly unsuccessfully able to get my blood. I offered 2 of my left veins to edah-none. I offered my right one to jon-none. Darn, i was disappointed. But i am happy that i manage to poke Jon twice. Hah! i even got his blood with me...kehkehkeh! (i know called me weirdo, but who cares!) We're going again this tuesday, so i am looking forward to it!

SAturday night, went to Thai restaurant for dinner with Dr.Zul with the rest of the gang. The fish was amazingly delicious!!! Dr.Zul gave us some tips and advices on what to do and what not in preparation for our study later in the partner medical school. We're were happy to see him, it's been a while since we last saw him. Wish he was still our dean :( But it was funny how he was trying to promote his clinic. He told us whenever we want to open a new chapter in our life, his clinic will be ready and always open for us...how sweet is that! awwww.....
Later after dinner, went to S&S to join abang, shaz and the rest of the gang. I was quite upset actually how my saturday night turned out. I actually got myself to ask a guy out...but sadly, he stood me up. Its frustrating because he was giving me all these mix signals. At first, he told me he was interested, then he gave me all these excuses that he's busy meeting up clients and busy working. Damn boy! If ure not interested, have the gut to say it. No balls at all! Bullshits la!Anyway...who cares now. I am happy being single anyway. Got more fish in the sea anyway. Not my lost.

Sunday, one happy day for me. Rest rest rest....plus i get to see my grandfather! and i got myself a Burger King!!! :D

Next in the agenda of my life :
- PPD Portfolio
- Study Revision plans
- Clerkings
- Logbook of Cases

Matahariku

Tertutup sudah pintu, pintu hati ku,
yang pernah dibuka waktu hanya untukmu,
kini kau pergi dari hidupku,
ku harus relakanmu walau aku tak mau.

Berjuta warna pelangi di dalam hati,
sejenak luluh bergeming menjauh pergi,
tak ada lagi cahaya suci,
semua nada beranjak aku terdiam sepi.

Dengarlah matahariku, suara tangisanku,
ku bersedih karna panah cinta menusuk jantungku,
ucapkan matahariku puisi tentang hidupku,
tentangku yang tak mampu menaklukkan waktu.

IM Charity Evening 2008 Fund Raising Presentation

IM STUDENTS RAISED $ 77,700.55 FOR SMARTER

(Left-to-Right): Brad, Najay, dimpLe goddEss, VC, Nellie, Haji Malai and his associate

IM Charity Evening Commitee Members

"Reach Out, Touch A Heart"

Last 12th April, IM organised the Fund Raising Presentation Ceremony for IM Charity Evening 2008, finally after about 2 month finalising and completing the fund collection. VC was invited as Guest of Honour, UBD Principal Board Officers and other Administrative Officers, Faculty Deans, SMARTER parents, volunteers & committee members were invited to the ceremony.

The event started off with arrival of VC, followed by a Welcoming Speech by one of the Co-Chairs of the Committee, YOURS TRULY :p and then speech by Haji Malai, the president of SMARTER. Certificates were presented by VC to all the committee members and the volunteers. Following this was the Cheque Presentation to Haji Malai and finally, Certs and Token of Appreciation from SMARTER to IM.

What was cool about it was that IM has reached our target. We totally didn't expect we would be able to raise that much, especially when not all the tickets were not sold. So, the money was raised collectively from the ticket sales, T-shirt and Key Chains sales and Donations. Even then, we still thought we would not be able to raise that much in 3 weeks. 3 weeks!!!!
Can u imagine??? all the hard works were really paid off. I'm really proud..

I hope the IM Charity Evening 08 will be a stepping stone for the juniors/other faculty/anyone who wants to organise a honourable fund-raising activity like this. It is really such a rewarding experience for me.

Just beautiful~

Busy Friday

The highlight of this day was the Soto lunch...aha. I had soto for lunch tadi at Soto Bunut restaurant at Qlap (not located in Bunut people). Anyway, it was delicious...nyum nyum. Earlier on, went to the bank to withdraw some cash for Korea trip in June (can't wait!!!-grinnning widely just thinking bout it). Next destination was RIPAS to lawat nini, then THE lunch. After, went to buy grocery. Actually, nothing much interesting was happening la.

Night-busy assigning people to call up the volunteers and drafting for the Welcoming Speech for Fund Raising Presentation for IM Charity Evening 2008 tomorrow. Almost forgotten bout the speech actually. Thank god i remember, if not die la. Of all people, why me to give that speech??? I know im the co-chairperson but Nellie is too wat? Owh well, no point nagging about it, the hard work was done anyway. Next is to search for the proper cloth for the function tomorrow. Was asked to wear pink/red...hmmm. I don't know if i have one. After this post, ill go hunt lah.

My to do list still many to cover...(sigh).

OOO...now i remember! Last night I went to Empire Cinema with dad, mom, yazid and zaim watching Malay movie called Akhirat. It was all about a married woman who got AIDS after tragically being raped, the secret that she has to keep from her husband fearing that he would leave her after finding out the truth. The movie also potraits how unlucky her life and fate was because not only she got raped, after that, just after she got married, her husband who was in the army got posted out of the country. Then, just before husband got back, she got into an accident on the way to pick her husband. From the accident and throughout the recovery phase, she and the hubby had never had their "Malam Pertama" (LOL!) Basically, it was funny la to see the hubby frustrated everytime kan approach, the wife would said she's tired. LOL!!!! But on serious note, it was a sad story. I would have to say i don't quite like the story line. Rate
 overall: 4/10

Hmm...ayt. I think i better go now...

Exercise Scheme, Family Life and Uni Lyf

Healthy Lifestyle

Phew...interesting week. So many "exciting" things happening. I've been back to my old Healthy Lifestyle regime : No-Rice-Diet+Exercise. Started going to the gym last Saturday after clinical placement @ Ward 4 RIPAS. Wow..i must say, i miss the gym and the feeling of body ache all over ya. I'm happy and quite pleased with myself that I've taken this exercise thing for real this time around months of lazy-ing around and petting my fat ass n tummy. Anyway...Monday, i was back to the gym for Aerobic Session. It was great to be back on that scene. HMm...it was alright i guess, but i still prefer my old aerobic instructer back in Batu Besurat. God, i missed the old times..

Family lyf

Sad Sad Sad...Last Friday, i found out my grandad was admitted at the hospital. I was shocked and scared thinking of the many possible things dat went wrong with him. Later that day, when i went to visit him, i was shocked to find how thin and cachexic he is! I stared at him for long time..never leaving my eyes off him, thinking, brain-stimulating and brainstorming of the real reason / cause that might have caused him to be in that state...Poor poor nini... I feel so sad la. Later that night, me and shaz took the opportunity to ask the staff nurses what's wrong with him. OMG...after knowing wat he had, my heart just melts away. The nurse told us he was diagnosed with Acute and Chronic Renal Failure! and to my suprise rupanya nini pernah stroke! no wonder he has drooping face on one side. I didn't notice it at all and im  a medical student!
owh god..i do, really2 DO HOPE AND PRAY so nini will get better soon. Eventho i know he'll be dialysis machine, but it will save his life for sure, wats left of his remaining
life..i love u nini..please do get better..

Uni lyf

Reminiscing...

Thursday!!! It's PBL Day!!!

Lyk always, haven't finish SDL-ing for the PBL in the afternoon..*sigh* That's not the highlight of the story btw, it was the Studio Class/Group Photo Session i was anticipating and looking forward to. We have been planning this actually since year 1 but never did manage to find time for it, if we do, few were MIA. We had OC lecture that morning before the photoshoot. We then went straight to Gadong, Superb Photo Studio (i think), spend almost 1 + plus waiting for our dear Nad to arrive, then the photoshoot started. It was F.U.N. indeed. We did 3 different pose: Formal, Semi-formal and Free-style Poses. A lot of my friends like the Free-Style one simply because it really shows our group personality and dynamic. The girls told me they like me in that photo, i have no idea why. 8ah said coz i stand out from the rest because they never / rarely see me smile showing my teeth whenever i took pose..ahaa. Maybe. When i looked at the photo..mmm, im not sure it was my best pose, but hey, Sonia
said just take the compliment, be Thick-Skin lyk her..lol!

The free-style pose

After the shoot, we went to McD for early lunch. Typical of us, the photo shoot session still carries on, haha..we don't need to be professional photographer to take our photos, we are already PRO. During PBL, we showed the photo to our facilitators. Most of them like the Semi-Formal one. At first I didn't think that pose was one of the best ones, but after a while, looking at it closely..hmm..yea, its actually the best one. So, yea, i think it's my favourite one.
McD Ambassador

*sigh* Memories...starting to flashback all those memories we had as a group. Together, 15 of us make a Good, Nice, Happy Family. I mean, of all the 3 batches, we had the best group dynamic, even our dean think so.

For 3 years now we've been together as a group, the 1st cohort of the newly-established Health Science program, we were back then and still at the present time considered as the experimental "guinea pig" group. The 15-members cohort was the first group ever to be exposed to Problem Based Learning (PBL) and medical school curriculum. Damn, we've gone through soo much, hell yes, we did. From the very first Mini-OSCE interview before we were even accepted, the Induction week where we were starting to get acquainted with each other, getting and wearing our White Coat, first placement to Health Centres/RIPAS, going to labs with our Blue Coat, afternoon lunch outs, movie plans, sitting for exams, surviving OSCE for 5 semesters, doing SSM research that we didn't even think we were capable of doing before, participating in endless IM functions, having our 1st juniors, organising IM first ever biggest event-IM Charity Evening for SMARTER @ Amphitheatre and the list goes on..

Beautiful memories they are indeed...
